what are parabens?

Parabens are a group of chemicals that are used as artificial preservatives in cosmetics, foods and personal care products. The main goal in adding these chemicals is to prevent the growth of bacteria and ultimately elongate the product shelf life. However, many studies suggest that parabens can disrupt hormones in the body and negatively impact fertility and reproductive organs, affect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer.
